Effect on Pilot Exams & Scheduling
Please note that the following does not represent official FAA policy, for which the FAA should be consulted.
If an airman is unable to complete a required examination by the due date set by the FAA, an extension can be requested. For instructions, contact the FAA or consult the FAA letter requesting the evaluation.
For monitoring-type evaluations for pilots holding a Special Issuance and for some interview-based activities, Dr. Knippa can assist you to determine if a portion of the follow-up type appointment might be done remotely, such as by telephone. The latter will not suffice for cognitive or psychological testing which require an in-person visit.
For first-time Special Issuance neuropsychology evaluations (i.e., FAA-specified exams related to: AD/HD Standard assessment, SSRI, neurological and others), the FAA requires that these be substantially done face-to-face. In an effort to protect you, your family, Dr. Knippa and our staff, we monitor health guidance. Mask wearing is at your option. Dr. Knippa has had vaccination. You will have limited contact with office staff who also have been vaccinated.
Please note, if you are scheduled for in-office examination and have or suspect a cold, flu, COVID or other respiratory infection, please call the office as soon as possible to reschedule. Our goal is to pursue prudent illness-prevention courses for our patients, clients, doctors, staff and you and your family. Persons who arrive ill will not be seen for assessment, but offered alternative dates.
